Gramma Kate was born in 1913. As a child she was actually picked up by the tail of a tornado and placed back down safely. Someone must have had a plan for her life. Gramma Kate raised eight children in a tiny house with no running water and only 3 beds. Her children slept sideways 3-4 to a bed. Needless to say, it was not an easy life. When Gramma's sister passed away, Gramma was there to help with her young nieces. Her nephew was a single father and Gramma was always there to help with his little ones. You could count on Gramma Kate to be in church every Sunday as she was a very faithful individual. For all the bad, harsh and difficult events in her life, she gave it back two-fold. We grand-children knew her as Gramma Kate, but everyone in town knew her as Aunt Kate.
Gramma Kate was always the first in line to help a sick neighbor, get someone to a doctor's appointment, or prepare a meal for someone in need. When coming up with a name for the charity, it was a simple call. As Gramma Kate earned her wings before she left this world, so shall we learn to be her example and help those less fortunate in time of need.
